If You’ve Read One of My Articles, You Need to Know This

I’ll keep it short.

Dear You:

Thank you for clicking on something by @Heatherby.

Thank you for allowing me the genuine thrill of being read by your mind.

If you’ve had time and the inclination, thank you, especially, for responding with a comment or clap.

I’m sure you don’t realize how much that makes my moment.

Although we will likely never meet, I’m Heather Burton, a writer in progress. I’m pleased to connect with you here.

My interest in developing ideas and stories spans four decades but in January 2017 I told myself, God, and a few select others that “This is the year.” I began writing and publishing articles online.

(How about you?)

My hope with writing is to be real, honest, humane and thought-provoking. Your presence and comments suggest someone values the attempt.

I don’t know how to thank you for that, either.

You make the world feel closer by interacting with my articles, but you’re still so far away. Lunch together or a “customer appreciation picnic-in-the-park” seem impossible.

(I also bake decently healthy cookies, and it frustrates me that I can’t deliver them to your doorstep.)

So, I wrote this note.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I’m glad you’re here, and that I find myself in your company.

For reals, thank you.

Heather
